Convenience-store retailer QuikTrip Corp. continues to expand its medical clinic business. On Sept. 19, QuikTrip opened its 13th MedWise urgent care facility in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

The new clinic is a 3,057-square-foot medical space that will serve the city and surrounding communities. Services include same-day treatment, x-rays, diagnostic testing, seasonal vaccinations and other minor procedures.

Although some of the MedWise facilities are located near QuikTrip c-stores, they are standalone businesses on separate lots from QuikTrip’s retail outlets.

Each location has between 10 and 15 employees. The facilities treat non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses in both adults and children, without an appointment, including colds, allergies, burns and poison ivy, and lacerations, sprains, strains and broken bones. They also offer preventative care including physical exams, flu shots and vaccines.

“We are excited to see new patients and be of service to the area,” said MedWise spokesperson Antonya Pharr. “We want the community to know that we are here to help.”

MedWise accepts most major insurances, it said, recently adding BlueCross BlueShield Native Blue. For those who do not have insurance, MedWise offers fair and affordable care with a transparent cash price, it said.

MedWise intends to open three additional clinics in the coming months including locations in Bartlesville, Oklahoma in winter 2023, Claremore, Oklahoma, in winter/spring 2023 and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, in winter/spring 2024.

And although QuikTrip has “interest” in expanding Medwise into regions adjacent to Tulsa, such as Wichita, Kansas, and Kansas City, Pharr told CSP, the company has not offered a timeline for any other openings.

MedWise is a subsidiary of QuikTrip Corp., opened its first clinic in September 2020 and has been growing in Tulsa and surrounding areas.

QuikTrip, which opened its 1,000th store in April, operates c-stores in 17 states. It also is one of the Top 25 largest privately held companies in the United States. Both companies and based in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
