TULSA, Okla. -- Convenience stores in Oklahoma are gearing up for the first day of the Oklahoma Lottery, which starts Wednesday with the sale of scratch-off tickets at more than 1,200 locations across the state, according to a report from KOTV News.
In Tulsa, the Daily Stop store had its Lotto machine installed a week ago. The owners went to a two-hour training class. They hope it will be enough to get them through the initial bumps when the lottery starts.
"I wish we'd had a little more training so we'd know what to [image-nocss] do, store owner Ashraf Salim told KOTV. Most of it is going to be educating the customer on how the actual lottery works, how the Pick Three works, which we need to learn first so we can explain it to them.
Governor Brad Henry hopes the lottery will produce $150 million for schools in its first full year and about $65 million during the current fiscal year, which ends June 30 of next year.Members help make our journalism possible.
