Holtz Named CSP News Director

Will manage online daily news and magazine news section

OAK BROOK, Ill. -- Recognized by colleagues as Mr. Versatility for his ability to excel in a variety of positions covering the convenience, petroleum and beverage industries, Steve Holtz has been named news director at CSP Information Group.

Holtz, who joined CSP in fall 2000 as managing editor and most recently served as editor for former CSP sister publication Beverage Spectrum, will team with Greg Lindenberg, editor of CSP Daily News, to further advance the company's online offering. Holtz will also manage the magazine's News & Analysis section.

"Having Steve and Greg together ensures we will deliver the most important news stories of the day to the thousands of online readers who rely on CSP Daily News for their morning business fix," said Paul Reuter, CSP's president and editorial director.

Readership surveys show we have the best daily news coverage in the convenience and petroleum industry, Reuter continued. The fact that more than 200 readers respond every day to our Daily News Poll and that we generate as many as 500 responses tells me we're doing a better job in reaching out to the industry and learning from the men and women who make this industry so great. Our challenge now is to make CSP Daily News even more timely and to answer the daily challenges the convenience-petroleum channel faces everyday.

A study by Clickin Research indicated that CSP Daily News outpaces its competitors. Asked which online publication they would choose if they could select only one, 57% of the readers said CSP, with NACS trailing with 18%, Convenience Store News with 17% and Convenience Store Decisions with 7%.

"The addition of Holtz, along with the news research skills of Lindenberg, will only strengthen CSP Daily News," Reuter said.

In addition to managing editor, Holtz in his five years at CSP has served as editor of the company's Category Solutions, executive editor of the magazine and was named editor of Beverage Spectrum in March 2004.
