Celebrates 1,000th Store
QuikTrip last spring celebrated the opening of its 1,000th retail location in Converse, Texas.
Because the c-store chain is growing so quickly, it had its choice of five new-store openings to designate as the 1,000th. The other four are in Surprise and Tolleson, Arizona; Macon, Georgia; and Thornton, Colorado. At the time of this milestone, the company had opened 26 stores in 17 markets since Jan. 1, 2023.
The Converse location is a 4,900-square-foot store with nine gasoline pumps. It features an expanded fresh-to-order foodservice menu, including pulled beef and hardwood-smoked barbecue sandwiches, breakfast tacos, pizza, soft pretzels, premium specialty drinks and QuikShakes.
There are also freshly made grab-and-go sandwiches, salads and wraps. Its line of QT “snackles” includes freshly brewed coffee and QTea, pizza by the slice and roller grill items.
Opens 13th Medical Clinic
QuikTrip on Sept. 19 opened its 13th MedWise urgent care facility in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, further expanding its medical clinic business.
Although some MedWise facilities are near QuikTrips, they are standalone businesses on separate lots.
There are 10 to 15 employees per facility, which treat same-day, non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, including allergies, burns, colds, poison ivy, cuts, sprains, strains and broken bones for adults and children. Other services in the 3,057-square-foot space include X-rays, diagnostic testing, seasonal vaccinations and other minor procedures. They also offer preventative care including physical exams. Appointments are not necessary.
Sponsors Youth Hoops Camp
QuikTrip sponsored NBA stars from the Atlanta Hawks shooting hoops for youth at day-camp basketball courts in the Atlanta area in summer 2023.
The sponsorship of the Hawks’ 2023 Community Court Tour is one way QuikTrip is giving back to the communities it serves. QuikTrip contributes several million dollars to nonprofit organizations in the Atlanta area dedicated to strengthening neighborhoods and families and helping youth lead active, healthy lives, the company said.
The sponsorship, which is continuing this basketball season, aims to create memorable experiences for participating youth, Andrew Saltzman, the Hawks’ chief revenue officer, said at the time.
Expands to 17th State
Clinton, Mississippi, is home to QuikTrip’s first store in the Magnolia State. The location, which opened in late March, was the first of five Remote Store Network locations in the chain’s expansion plans in Mississippi in 2023.
Remote Store Network sites have larger lots and bigger stores than a traditional QuikTrip, with room to service 20 cars for gasoline and six diesel bays for trucks.
QuikTrip created this model for highly traveled areas of the country also in reasonable proximity to a QuikTrip Distribution Center for access to fresh food. It has a full-service kitchen with fresh, made-to-order “snackles” along with fresh food delivered daily through the chain’s bakeries and commissaries.
