RaceTrac Moving HQ

Leaving longtime home for Atlanta

ATLANTA -- RaceTrac Petroleum Inc. has inked a deal to move its corporate offices from its long-time, single-story home in Smyrna, Ga., to a midrise building in Atlanta, said CoStar Realty Information Inc., Bethesda, Md.

The retailer, with more than 540 RaceTrac company-owned or franchised gas stations throughout the Southeast, is in final negotiations for 75,000 sq. ft. at Cumberland Center IV, a 223,500-sq.-ft. building on Cumberland Blvd. in northwest Atlanta.

The company will move into the building by October and will affix [image-nocss] its corporate logo atop the building, a RaceTrac spokesperson said.

According to CoStar, RaceTrac will be vacating its current headquarters at Building 300 of Lakeridge Tech Center, a flex office/warehouse facility on Technology Court just west of South Cobb Drive that currently has RaceTrac as its main tenant.

Dan Granot, the broker with Advantis/GVA who is representing RaceTrac, declined to comment for the story. And officials with Pope & Land Enterprises Inc., the owner of Cumberland Center, declined to comment on the deal. Granot has been scouting office space for RaceTrac since early 2004, CoStar said, and added that at one point Carl Bolch Jr., the CEO of RaceTrac, indicated the company would consider taking space in a build-to-suit office building somewhere in the Cumberland area.
