TravelCenters of America Expands Along Major Texas Highway

Chain's new Huntsville store features travel store, showers, dog park

TravelCenters of America, Westlake, Ohio, opened a new location in Huntsville, Texas, off Interstate 45 at exit 118.

  • TravelCenters of America is No. 29 on CSP’s 2023 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by company-owned store count. bp is No. 7. 

In the forecourt, the new location consists of 10 gasoline and six diesel fueling stations, all with diesel exhaust fluid. It has 90 truck parking spaces and 55 car parking spaces. Primo Taqueria is the location's full-service restaurant, along with a few QSR options, including Cinnabon, Chester's Fried Chicken and Sbarro.

This first TA in Huntsville, Texas, also features a travel store, three showers, laundry facilities, a drivers lounge, a truck wash, a dog park and an ATM.

With more than 150 full-service restaurants nationwide, TA continues expanding its portfolio.

“Our franchise and acquisition programs, along with our success in implementing other parts of our turnaround plan, and focus on our strategic plan, are a continued sign of the success of our efforts to improve our business,” Jon Pertchik, CEO of TA, said in January.

In May, bp Products North America Inc. completed its $1.3 billion acquisition of TA. The transaction adds a network of about 280 travel centers, located on major highways across United States, according to bp.

TravelCenters of America is a nationwide operator and franchisor of the TA, Petro Stopping Centers and TA Express travel center brands. As of year-end 2022, bp had 1,224 company-owned and -operated c-store sites in the United States, including the ampm and Thorntons brands.
