Twice Daily convenience stores for the first time are now offering customizable, made-to-order subs, sandwiches, breakfast and snacks in all stores.

Customers can order through an in-store kiosk or mobile order via the Twice Daily Rewards app.

Tri Star Energy, Nashville, Tennessee, is the parent company of Twice Daily.

“Our Twice Daily brand has always focused on providing our guests fresh, quality food through our grab-and-go offerings, but now we have the opportunity to elevate the foodservice experience with the made-to-order program,” Rachel Saddler, Twice Daily category manager for foodservice, told CSP. “From our proprietary research findings, our guests have been looking forward to the menu expansion and ability to fully customize their orders.”

Twice Daily’s Made to Order program is a “convenient and easy-to-use way for guests to personalize their food just the way they like it,” the company said. Customers enter their order at the in-store kiosk and customize sandwiches with preferred meats and cheeses, regular or egg white patties and bagels loaded with their favorite spread or breakfast sandwich toppings.

Once customers place an order, they get a printed ticket as the food is prepared. “The process was streamlined for a quick response time to ensure an effortless user experience,” the company said.

In addition to the upgraded in-store food experience, the food-ordering feature on Twice Daily’s app has been updated to include these same customizable options.

Customization includes eggs over-easy or egg white patties and regular or turkey sausage, Saddler said. Customers can choose among American cheese, pepperjack or another variety. Even snacks can be customized, such as warming a pretzel or having it with or without salt.

“The project started over 18 months ago by finding the right tech partner and kitchen equipment, which allowed us to build a customizable menu offering that fits our brand and create the right training program for our team members,” Saddler said.

Twice Daily started a pilot program in three stores in January, Saddler said.

“This allowed us to fine tune the menu, technology and training required to complete the rollout and kick off the marketing campaign on Oct. 24,” she said. “Every department in our organization played key roles in weekly meetings, training sessions and overall program development.”

Twice Daily, which has locations in Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee, each year has as a goal continuing to grow its fresh foodservice offering, Saddler said.

“Our White Bison brand, which is integrated into 20 of the Twice Daily locations, was launched six years ago, and also offers an elevated food and beverage program that is made to order,” she said. “Utilizing some of the learnings we have gained from our White Bison brand, we were able to build a robust menu and operational execution plan to launch an exciting made to order offering at all our Twice Daily locations. Foodservice in our industry has come a long way and is ultimately a driving point for inside sales growth.”

While Made to Order allows guests to craft their menu items, Twice Daily still offers a selection of staple groceries, doughnuts, pastries and an extensive beer cave featuring local and craft beers.

“As the foodservice category manager, it has been very exciting to be a part of the development and launch of a program that truly will change the way our guests view the foodservice offering at Twice Daily,” Saddler said.

Founded in 2000, Tri Star Energy owns Twice Daily, Sudden Service, Southern Traders, Little General and Maverick Quick Shop convenience stores and supplies fuel to wholesale trade channels in 17 states. The company also owns premium coffee brand White Bison Coffee, including locations throughout middle Tennessee and northern Alabama.
