CHICAGO -- The fake national holiday that generates the most buzz might just be National Coffee Day. Although the celebration falls on Sept. 29, some convenience stores have found a way to brew up more than one day’s worth of hype.
Check out how c-stores are driving in-store visits with the promise of discounted java ...
1. Cumberland Farms
Cumberland Farms customers can celebrate the java holiday with a free cup of hot or iced Farmhouse brand coffee in any size. Customers need only text the phrase “FREECOFFEE” to 64827 to get a mobile coupon.
The Westborough, Mass.-based retailer is continuing coffee deals in October with Free Coffee Fridays starting Oct. 12. Each Friday throughout the month, customers will be able to cop a free cup of coffee in any size.

“Our customers are the same in every market; they are looking for fast and easy visits and products for people on the go,” said Todd Isaacs, senior director of customer marketing and loyalty for North America. “This is just a small way for us to say ‘Thank you’ for allowing us to be a part of their day.”
