RICHMOND, Va. —Heas Energy Services LLC’s Express Lane Group has acquired Moore’s Country Store Inc.’s six convenience stores and gas stations in Virginia.

The stores are in Lynchburg (2), Mt. Athos, Waterlick, Boonesboro and Graves Mill, Va.

“We are getting out of the fuel business and going back to our roots—the hot dog business,” David and Jennifer Moore, third-generation owners of the Lynchburg, Va.-based Moore’s Country Stores, said in a Facebook post announcing the sale. “Yes, the Moore’s Coleslaw and Moore’s Chili will still be available but at more locations now, very soon. Express Lane will be keeping Moore’s Hot Dogs and most of our other food at all of our previous locations. They will be adding your favorites from them to the menu as well. They will also be available for caterings.”

Moore’s Hot Dogs will be in the Madison Heights, Va., Express Lane—the most requested location, they said. “So while it is a sale, it is also a partnership. David and I will still be in and out of all the stores. Our focus will be back at Moore’s Mt. Athos and expanding our brand throughout Virginia.”

In the social media post, they added, “Thank you for your business and your trust in us over the years and especially the friendships that have evolved. We are not leaving you, we are just readjusting our sails for a new adventure. We look forward to seeing everyone at ‘ole Moore’s or in and out of Express Lanes. This is a good thing for all of us. Let’s be kind, let’s be patient and let’s be supportive of each other as we go through this adjustment. Express Lanes success with Moore's and Moore's success with Express Lane benefits the entire community. We can do this.”

Along with hot dogs and chili, Moore’s Country Store, founded in 1926, provided burgers, fried chicken, fried pork chops and homemade mashed potatoes and the hand-pattied salmon cakes with sliced fried potatoes. It offers a variety of vegetables and sides, including hand-cut potato wedges and desserts. Moore’s Country Stores also offer online ordering.

Richmond, Va.-based Heas Energy, started in 2019 by Shiv Patel, is a downstream petroleum distributor that specializes in gasoline distribution and marketing.
