C-stores are also holding their own against restaurants and cafe chains in the minds of consumers. Among the 10 highest-rated chains for quality of coffee among Technomic’s Consumer Brand Metrics program, five are convenience stores.
Ricker’s, Family Express (pictured here), Wawa, Cumberland Farms and QuikTrip all held their own against Caribou Coffee, Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts and other foodservice chains. All the brands have invested heavily in their coffee programs in recent years, from Wawa’s premium line, Wawa Reserve, to Family Express’ touchscreen, bean-to-cup machines.
