#CRU14 Blog: Cobblestone Auto Spa Cleans Up Nicely

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- With 10 Shell-branded gasoline pumps, a tunnel wash, quick lube, window tinting, convenience store, Dunkin Donuts and more, the Cobblestone Auto Spa & Market has something for everyone.

On the Tuesday morning of our CRU14 visit, a steady stream of cars pulled into the car wash, the car owners relaxing in large leather chairs in a lounge area complete with flat-screen TVs set to news, sports and overviews of the car wash tunnel itself.

The car wash/c-store chain was opening its 10^th location this week with an 11^th to come in March and more on the horizon.

Our busload of tourists was impressed by the front-and-center placement of the Dunkin Donuts counter, making it clear to all who enter that this site believes in foodservice as a traffic driver.

Other standout elements included several large merchandise displays, including a wall of Rockstar energy drinks that formed the American flag (See slide show below) and a mini football field promoting Anheuser Busch products, and a soap shooting range that lets customers fire soap at their vehicle as it goes through the car wash.

The Cobblestone Auto Spa & Market is a sprawling retail site full of convenience products and services.

Inside, high-gloss stone floors reflect an upscale look for the entire site.

At the checkout, friendly customer service rules the day.

Foodservice is highlighted through full-service Dunkin Donuts counter inside the store.

A sprawling cold vault caught the attention of retailers on our tour.

A long tunnel car wash is the primary attraction of the location.

The "Super Shooter" lets car-wash customers "shoot" their vehicle with soap as it makes its way through the tunnel.

Car-wash prices begin at $15.99 and go up to $50 or more, depending on the extent of service ordered.

Car-wash customers can relax in comfortable leather chairs and watch television while they wait.

Product aisles are kept wide, but with plenty of interruption points to drive impulse sales.

The retailer is open to allowing manufacturers fill ample space with large merchandising displays, such as this Rockstar "American flag."
