EG Group, Westborough, Massachusetts, has appointed Steve DeSutter, former CEO of Stripes Convenience Stores, as an independent non-executive director. He joined the board on Friday.

DeSutter served as CEO of Stripes from 2008-2014, a convenience store chain based in Corpus Christi, Texas, which 7-Elevenacquired from Sunoco in April 2024.

DeSutter was also CEO of Atlanta-based Focus Brands from 2014-2020, a franchisor of Auntie Anne's, Cinnabon and Jamba, which has since rebranded to Go To Foods.

In prior roles, he was executive vice president at Miami-Dade County, Florida-based Burger King for Europe, the Middle East and Africa as well as Asia Pacific. He previously served on the advisory board of Revel Systems, Atlanta, which provides point-of-sale (POS) technology to businesses.

"Steve is a significant appointment to EG Group's board, whose impressive experience and understanding of the convenience store and franchise sectors—especially in the United States—will be important as we execute further on our growth strategy,” said Stuart Rose, chairman of the board. “I am delighted he has agreed to join us and look forward to his counsel and guidance."
