Urban convenience-store Foxtrot just expanded its brick-and-mortar footprint further in the nation’s capital. The retailer opened its 10th Washington, D.C., store in the Adams Morgan neighborhood on Jan. 3.

As part of the store’s opening celebration, the Chicago-based chain offered discounts and gave away free tote bags for shoppers who downloaded and used the Foxtrot app.

Foxtrot currently carries more than 150 local products from more than 50 local makers, including Nightingale ice cream, Ceremony Coffee, Cookies by Drew, Little Sesame hummus and more. Foxtrot continues to add new brands to its shelves, including local craft beers and fine wines selected by the in-house sommelier.

Combining a c-store with a café and offering 30-minute delivery and five-minute pickup through the Foxtrot App., Foxtrot now operates more than 30 locations across Chicago, Washington, D.C., Dallas and Austin. Foxtrot recently faced pushback in its hometown for plans to open a new location in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood.

Foxtrot, which announced in November plans to merge with urban grocer Dom Kitchen & Market, said it has plans to continue expansion in existing markets this year.
