NEW YORK — Whole Foods has opened a new store called Whole Foods Market Daily Shop in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan in New York. At 2,500 square feet, the new grab-and-go, small-format concept is similar to an urban convenience store or bodega.
It is next to a full-size Whole Foods Market in the former Whole Body space.
“With a local focus, Whole Foods Market Daily Shop opens carrying Gotham Greens, Balthazar breads, New York Bagel, Dunwell Doughnuts, Dough Doughnuts, By the Way Bakery cakes, Lilly's cookies and more,” a spokesperson for Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods told CSP Daly News. “Prime Member Deals, hot prepared foods, Whole Body products, fresh produce and mochi can also be found throughout the store as well.”
The debut comes as Whole Foods, which is owned by Seattle-based Amazon, has pulled the plug on its 365 by Whole Foods Market medium-format locations and as Amazon continues to slowly roll out its Amazon Go small-format, cashierless stores.
