Sheetz has made Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For list for the ninth year in a row. The convenience-store chain ranked 60th on this year’s list, and it has been included on this list 10 times in the past 11 years.

Sheetz, Altoona, Pennsylvania, has 23,172 U.S.-based employees, according to the 2024 list from Fortune and its partner Great Place to Work. Eighty-seven percent of employees at Sheetz said it is a great place to work, compared to 57% of employees at a typical U.S.-based company.

“As a family-owned and operated company, our priority is to ensure our employees know we appreciate and value them,” said Travis Sheetz, president and CEO of Sheetz. “Our team members are the face of our company in every community we serve. They represent what makes this company great and we are committed to offering them sustainable careers built on an inspiring culture and community engagement.”

  • Sheetz is No. 12 on CSP’s 2023 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by size.

When employees were asked what makes Sheetz a great workplace, comments revolved around the people, benefits, family and care.

The description of Sheetz from Great Place to Work reads: “Sheetz is one of America’s fastest-growing, family-owned and operated convenience retailers with stores across six states, serving over 1.6 million customers daily. Open 24/7/365, each store offers fuel, premium self-serve coffee, groceries and other merchandise, but freshly made, high-quality food is their main focus. Unique benefits and advancement opportunities reflect the company’s genuine concern for employees’ well-being—a respect that is felt within work groups and extends across the counter through Total Customer Focus.”

To build the list, Fortune partners with Great Place to Work, a global authority on workplace culture, who uses rigorous analytics and reviews confidential employee feedback from more than 1.3 million U.S. employees. First on the 100 Best Companies to Work For 2024 list was Hilton, McLean, Virginia, followed by Cisco, San Jose, California.

“When people ask about what sets the best companies apart from their competitors, it’s one key ingredient: trust,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work. “When employees trust their leaders, their colleagues and the organization, they become empowered to reach their full potential.”

Sheetz is looking to hire 2,200 employees across its six-state footprint this year. The c-store chain offers competitive pay and benefits packages to all employees, it said, along with an employee stock ownership plan, tuition reimbursement, flexible schedules, opportunities for advancement and more.

Sheetz operates more than 720 stores in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio and Maryland.
