CHICAGO -- Snack innovation is driving growth in the product category. And millennials are driving nearly half of all snack sales, according to data from IRI, Chicago.
While consumers preach a desire for healthier items to snack on, indulgent segments and flavors are seeing sales growth, as well.
Here's a look at the snacks segments that saw the most growth in 2017 and an analysis of how to reach some of the fastest growing demographics among consumers.

- "Other" salted snacks (e.g, Gardetto's, Chex Mix, Harvest Snaps): +28%
- Tortilla chips: +15%
- Potato chips: +12%
- Cheese snacks: +12%
- Dried meat snacks: +7%
