YORK, Pa. -- The terms "fresh" and "local" don’t seem to be mere labels to Rutter’s. Earlier this year, the retailer added a fresh and local category manager. In the past few months, the convenience-store chain expanded its menu to include pork belly, cage-free eggs and 25 varieties of seafood, including a hand-shucked fried clam. Now, the retailer has added fresh produce in its grab-and-go cases and foodservice offerings.

Locally sourced ingredients
Rutter’s foodservice team now prepares items with Pennsylvania-grown sweet onions, green peppers and mushrooms. When ordering via kiosk, customers can look for the c-stores local icon to customize with homegrown ingredients.
With 71 locations in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, Rutter's is No. 96 in CSP's 2018 Top 202 ranking of c-stores by number of company-owned retail outlets. The chain won the CSP/Intouch Insight Mystery Shop study for a second straight year.
