LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Thorntons Inc. has announced that it has partnered with Scotsman Ice Systems to bring the Nug Truck to two Thorntons stores this week. The Nug Truck is a mobile truck that serves nugget ice, a chewable ice that the retailer said has gained a passionate following nationwide.

On Tuesday, June 21, the nugget ice truck was at Thorntons store No. 154, in Louisville, Ky., from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. handing out free 12-ounce samples of chewable nugget ice.

Thorntons also offered a free fountain fill to any customer who comes in with this 12-oz. "Luv the Nug" [image-nocss] cup.

The Nug Truck will make a second stop on Wednesday, June 22, at Thorntons store No. 98 in Louisville from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Thorntons will offer the same free fountain drink promotion at this location, it said.

The Nug Truck is part of the Nugget Nation, a "digital community of ice chewers," located at www.LuvtheNug.com.

In other company news, Thorntons is also running its "Bet or No Bet Sweepstakes" on June 17 and 24 and July 1 at Churchill Downs. Fans get a chance to choose between placing a $1,000 win wager on the horse of their choice or walking away with a $100 Thorntons gift card.

Also, the winner of the retailer's Father's Day photo contest on Facebook is Steve Verdun of Peoria, Ill. The prize was a $100 Thortons gift card.
