Convenience-store distribution company S. Abraham & Sons Inc., a subsidiary of Imperial Trading Co., has promoted George Bennett to president.

Bennett (left) began his career with SAS in 2010 as vice president of sales, and the company promoted him to vice president of sales and marketing in 2014 and chief marketing officer in 2019.

Prior to joining SAS, he worked for Anheuser-Busch for 13 years, holding various titles and job responsibilities.

“George has earned and deserves this opportunity to lead SAS by serving every stakeholder,” said Wayne Baquet, CEO and president of Imperial Trading. “With confidence, I believe George will not only be successful, but will grow even further in his new role. I expect George to do great things and will challenge me to keep pace with his vision. We wish George continued success and we look forward to many years of growth under his leadership and expertise.”

In other company news, Jim Leonard, COO of S. Abraham & Sons Inc., has retired.

Leonard (right) began his career with SAS in 1988 working in all facets of the company, including as vice president of administration and CFO. SAS promoted him in 2019 to COO to lead the company’s growth and expansion.

“With Jim’s retirement, we are losing a stable force inside our company, but it is a privilege to see one of our most key employees retire on their own timeframe. Jim deserves all the accolades and has left SAS in a better place than when he started,” said Baquet, chief executive officer and president of Imperial Trading, Elmwood, Louisiana. “We wish Jim a happy retirement and good health as he enjoys spending time with his family, sport shooting, fishing, boating and well needed rest and relaxation. We thank Jim for his devotion to SAS for over 35 years.”

Imperial Trading and Grand Rapids, Michigan-based SAS provide marketing, distribution and technology solutions to convenience-store retailers. With six distribution centers servicing 21 states, their service area extends from the United States and Canada border to the Gulf of Mexico where they service more than 5,000 retail locations.
