Valor Oil is expanding its Hop Shops convenience-store brand through the purchase of Jumpin’ Jack’s Travel Plaza in Lewisport, Kentucky, near Owensboro, Kentucky, the company posted on social media. Valor Oil officially took ownership of the property on Feb. 20.

The travel plaza is located on the portion of the land at the intersection of U.S. 60 and KY 657 in Lewisport. The main building on the property houses a gas station, convenience store, restaurant and bank.

The company has hired nearly 20 additional local people at the newly acquired site, while also retaining the employees already serving the community at this location.

It plans to introduce its Ribbiting Rewards Program and its disco bathrooms to the truck plaza. The company is also adding branded food options to the Lily Pad Café.

With the completion of this sale, Valor Oil operates 15 Hop Shops locations in Kentucky and Ohio. The Lewisport location is the second of three planned Hop Shops coming to the Owensboro area. The first was the HawesWay 60 Travel Plaza purchased by Valor Oil in 2023.

The company said it expects the third location to be finalized in 2024 and will be in Reo, Indiana.
