Dairy to distribute new single-sized milk

SAN ANTONIO -- Promised Land Dairy is introducing a new individual-sized package and a new label touting the local company's all-natural qualities. And it will distribute a new 14-oz. single-serving size. The products will be sold at Whole Foods Market Inc. grocery stores and Valero Energy Corp. convenience stores.

"We're meeting the public's increased demand for all natural, healthy, nutritious foods and beverages in convenient on-the-go packaging," Promise Land Dairy President Harry Lees told the San Antonio Business Journal.

In addition, the company's new label prominently features the company's promises for No Artificial Hormones, More Calcium, More Protein and More Taste.

Promised Land Dairy produces milk products from Jersey cows at its plant in Floresville, Texas. Company officials said milk from Jersey cows is naturally higher in calcium, protein and nonfat milk solids than milk from the more commonly used Holstein cows.

The new label reflects a growing interest among consumers for healthier products, said the report. "As people become more aware of the need for better nutrition and are seeking out all-natural products, we wanted to become more assertive about getting our message out," Lees told the paper.

The company produces whole milk, 2% reduced-fat milk and fat-free milk. It also sells Midnight Chocolate Milk, Reduced Fat Midnight Chocolate Milk, Very Berry Strawberry Milk and Vivacious Vanilla Milk. During the Christmas holidays, the company produces a seasonal Old Fashioned Egg Nog and Reduced Fat Old Fashioned Egg Nog.
