KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Weigel’s convenience-store chain and dairy has committed to Tennessee farmers to use milk produced exclusively in Tennessee. The brand will now include the new Tennessee Milk logo on its products. The logo is intended to help consumers identify the sourcing and production of the dairy products from Tennessee.
“Milk has been an important part of our heritage for over 85 years,” said Bill Weigel, chairman of Weigel’s. “This new logo represents the pride and dedication of our Tennessee farmers, and we are proud to announce that Weigel’s will process and distribute milk only from Tennessee dairy farms.”
In 2018, the 110th General Assembly passed legislation enacting the Tennessee Milk logo. The logo was created by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture to support the state’s dairy farmers, and to identify that the milk and other dairy products are entirely sourced and produced in Tennessee.
“When consumers see the Tennessee Milk logo on our products, they can feel confident that they are directly helping Tennessee dairy farmers, and that their milk is fresh and local,” said Weigel. “It’s our way of helping our dairy farmers, hopefully for generations to come.”
Weigel’s operates 67 convenience stores, a dairy and a bakery, all within a 100-mile radius of its corporate headquarters in Powell, Tenn. It ranked No. 106 in CSP’s2018 Top 202 list of the largest c-store chains in the country.
