Kangaroo Express treats customers who "ROOserve" refillable cup online

CARY, N.C. -- Major Southeast convenience store chain Kangaroo Express, operated by The Pantry Inc., has announced that fans of its ROO Cup, a collectible cup refillable with any fountain or frozen beverage for only 25 cents, can now pre-register to reserve the refillable cups.

This summer, fans who reserve their cups on Facebook or the Kangaroo Express mobile app can start using their cups one week before the general public.

The 2014 ROO Cup retails for $6.99 plus tax and can be refilled for 25 cents through Sept. 30 at any of the more than 1,500 Kangaroo Express locations.

Popular ROO Cup customization options such as colored straws, and additional opportunities to save, will return to Kangaroo Express in May.

Starting April 1, Kangaroo Express customers can reserve their 2014 ROO Cup on the Kangaroo Express Facebook page or mobile app to unlock an additional week of ROO Cup refills and fun. Those who make a reservation will receive a certificate via email or on the mobile app deals page with details to redeem in-store and purchase a ROO Cup starting Thursday, April 24 at 8:00 a.m., one week before the ROO Cup's release to the public on Thursday, May 1.

"The ROO Cup is back for a fourth summer, offering guests one of the best values in town on their favorite frozen and fountain beverages," said Gordon Schmidt, interim senior vice president of operations for Kangaroo Express.

The Kangaroo Express mobile app is free to download on Google Play, iPhone App Store or BlackBerry App World and can also direct guests to the next ROO-fill opportunity along their travels.

Last summer, more than 30,000 ROO Cup fans reserved their ROO Cups to lock in deals.

In addition to in-store savings, the chain will hold ROO Cup social media contests to give fans the opportunity to win prizes and be featured on ROOCup.com. The first contest will kick off April 7, asking ROO Cup fans to share how they have refreshed their 2013 ROO Cup to find uses for the cup all year long, using #ROOCupRefresh. From ROO Cup flower planters to tip jars, there is no limit to the creative ways to refresh an old ROO Cup.

To keep the savings flowing all summer long, join the ROO Club again this year by texting "ROOCLUB" to "THEROO" (843766) to receive text messaging deals, such as free refill days and in-store deals on candy, snacks and more.

As of March 13, 2014, The Pantry, Cary, N.C., operated 1,537 stores in 13 states under select banners, including its primary operating banner, Kangaroo Express. Kangaroo Express offers hot and cold beverages, snacks, fresh foods, gasoline and a wide assortment of merchandise. It is home to more than 220 foodservice restaurants, including Subway and Dairy Queen.
