Chevron Cherishes Seattle

ExtraMile launch helps breast cancer foundation

SEATTLE -- Chevron is going the extra mile for Seattle's fight against breast cancer, while officially introducing its ExtraMile convenience stores to the city.

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a local ExtraMile c-store is unveiling Chevron's latest special-edition breast cancer awareness toy car, Cherish. All net proceeds of Cherish purchases are donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

On October 5, Cherish will be unveiled at the ExtraMile store in Bellevue, Wash., along with an exhibit of the most [image-nocss] popular Chevron toy cars from the past 10 years.

Chevron executive Wayne Klahs, vice president of global marketing solutions, will be on hand to introduce Cherish. A local breast cancer survivor and Susan G. Komen Foundation board member, Pamela Ridgeway, will speak on behalf of the Seattle chapter.

ExtraMile product sampling will take place throughout the day, featuring Van Houtte coffee and Johnsonville Bratwurst.

Chevron's ExtraMile pilot program includes 43 branded sites32 retailer-operated sites and 11 company-operated locations in Seattlewhich opened throughout the city this summer to test the ExtraMile program across the c-store network.

The concept focuses on greater product selection and an improved customer experience with the consistent delivery of several destination categories in a variety of store facilities. The destination categories featured in the new store design are:

HydraZone: Includes a wide variety of popular energy drinks, waters, and vitamin-enriched beverages prominently located near the front door. Coffee: Features Van Houtte-branded stations offering a wide variety of coffees and assorted hot beverages, along with accessories such as cups, stirrers and napkins. Better Choices: Healthy snack alternatives, such as protein bars, nuts, snacks, vitamins and energy foods. Food-to-Go: A selection of fresh food and self-serve items, such as muffins and baked goods for breakfast, cold sandwiches for lunch, and quality hot foods for evening meals, like Johnsonville Bratwurst. Visuals: New ExtraMile store with innovative layout design and product offerings.

As reported in CSP Daily News earlier this month, San Ramon, Calif.-based Chevron selected coffee roaster Van Houtte Inc. as an alliance partner for the ExtraMile pilot program in the Seattle market.
