Home Depot Fuels Up

Chain to open c-store in Acworth, Ga., today

ACWORTH, Ga. -- Home Depot will open the doors on its first Fuel store in Georgia this morning. The new convenience store on Cobb Parkway in Acworth, Ga., will feature the familiar large orange Home Depot store sign, along with the price of gasoline and diesel fuel, according to the company.

The Home Depot is entering the fuel business in this second state by offering discounts from already-competitive gas prices to anyone with a Home Depot credit card or gift card. Once at the Fuel store, customers will find a fully stocked, brightly lit convenience [image-nocss] store and a high-tech, touch-free car wash.

The site also includes unique animated flat-panel display screens on the gas dispensers and inside the store [that] point customers toward the latest promotions on snacks and beverages.

The company will host a grand opening at 9:30 a.m. today.

The Atlanta-based company has previously opened Fuel stores in Brentwood and Hermitage, Tenn. The second-largest retailer in the United States, Home Depot has said it will build more than 300 of the fuel centers/c-stores by 2010. The sites range from 2,600 to 3,000 square feet.
