AVON, N.Y. — Convenience-store retailer Quicklee’s has hired Lou Terragnoli as its new director of real estate and development.

Terragnoli (pictured, left) will help the chain identify and acquire existing c-stores in communities throughout the area. In addition to acquisitions, he will also help identify available land opportunities where the company can develop stores from the ground up.

Previously, Terrangnoli was director of real estate for Reid Petroleum, Lockport, N.Y., which operates convenience stores under the Crosby's brand.

“There are so many things to consider when we open a new store or when we acquire an existing one,” said Ken Perelli, vice president and COO of Quicklees. “Lou’s expertise in real estate will help us streamline our processes and strengthen our business. We are excited to have his support as we expand our operation.”

Quicklee’s also recently hired Brian Mongi as its new general manager to help oversee its 23 c-stores.

Mongi (pictured, right) brings 22 years of c-store industry experience, having worked previously as a direct supervisor and director of food and beverage for Crosby’s.

As the new general manager, Mongi, alongside a team of regional managers, will focus on improving efficiencies, increasing productivity and managing the overall operations of individual Quicklee’s locations. Training, education and building the team culture will become immediate priorities, in addition to deploying new marketing and community-focused initiatives.

“Being a locally owned and operated organization gives us a huge advantage in how we are viewed in the communities we do business in,” said Mongi. “Allowing more time for team development, vendor interaction, and customer interaction will improve our store operations, and allow us to provide even better service to new and existing communities that drive our success.”

Quicklee’s first General Manager retired last fall after a 25-year tenure. Actively looking to expand, with possible new locations in Batavia, Irondequoit, N.Y., and elsewhere, Quicklee’s prioritized the hiring of a new, experienced general manager to fill the role.

“Our industry is ever-changing,” said Perelli. “The role of general manager touches all aspects of the organization and is essentially the driver of creating operational structure and necessary change. Customer trends like healthy food options, industry shifts like electric vehicles or the need to enhance internal systems require considerable time and focus, and I’m excited to have Brian’s help and support as we expand and build for the future.”

The Bruckel family has owned and operated Avon, N.Y.-based Quicklee’s since 1995.
