Wichita Lineup

Casey's expanding in greater Wichita, Kansas, area

WICHITA, Kansas -- Casey's General Stores Inc. is expanding in the greater Wichita, Kansas, area, reported The Wichita Eagle.

"It looks like we've got a lot of sites that we're looking at in the Wichita area," CFO Bill Walljasper told the newspaper.

That includes one convenience store in Wichita near I-235 and one in Valley Center. A third store will be announced soon. None of the stores is under construction yet, said the report. They will be ready in late summer at the earliest.

Leisa Lowry of J.P. Weidgand & Sons handled the deals.

"We also look to renovate stores in the area as well," Walljasper said. "Just some of the older ones periodically."

There are about a dozen Casey's stores in Wichita and communities within an hour or so of it, the Eagle said.

"The stores seem to be pretty well received by the communities," Walljasper said. "Kansas is certainly an area we continue to grow in. … We like the area."

The chain, which in on a new-store push, also said recently that it is expanding in Arkansas.

Casey's General Stores, Inc., based in Ankeny, Iowa, owns and operates approximately 1,700 convenience stores in 12 Midwestern states--Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota, Indiana, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kentucky.
