IRVING, Texas — 7-Eleven has brought its Mexican quick-service restaurant (QSR) brand, Laredo Taco Company, to Florida as part of a new expansion plan in the Sunshine State.

The QSR—located in Inverness, Fla.—marks the first of 15 Laredo Taco Company QSRs that will open in the state, 7-Eleven said. The company is scheduled to open two more locations—in Palmetto and Parrish, Fla.—later this year. The rest are set to open by the end of 2021.

"We think Florida is really going to love our Laredo Taco Company restaurants and its delicious food, all made from scratch, with carnitas being my personal favorite," said Chris Tanco, executive vice president and COO of 7-Eleven. "Whenever we open Laredo Taco Company restaurants, the lines of enthusiastic customers have been out the door. We are excited to offer the same great experience and delicious handmade tacos to customers in the state of Florida."

The QSR offers chorizo, carne asada, carnitas and breakfast tacos and burritos served on handmade tortillas. Like its other locations, this Laredo Taco Company will feature a condiment bar featuring various salsas and pico de gallo, which are currently being served in pre-packed containers for COVID-19 safety. Every item on the Laredo Taco Company menu is available in stores or via contactless delivery through Postmates.

Owned and operated by 7-Eleven, Laredo Taco Company has locations in more than 500 Stripes and 7-Eleven convenience stores. The brand became part of 7-Eleven in early 2018 after the retailer acquired Sunoco LP. Houston-based Sunoco acquired Stripes from Susser Holdings Corp., Corpus Christi, Texas, in 2015. In March 2018, Laredo Taco Company opened its first restaurant in a 7-Eleven c-store in Dallas.

Based in Irving, Texas, 7–Eleven operates, franchises or licenses more than 71,100 7-Eleven c-stores in 17 countries, including more than 9,300 in the United States.
