Cumberland Farms Opens Cumby's Caf

Debuts coffee bar concept at new Palmer, Mass., location

PALMER, Mass. -- Cumberland Farms Inc. has opened a new convenience store and gas station in Palmer, Mass. The Palmer Cumberland Farms store is a first for the company, it said, because it features its inaugural Cumby's Café.

Cumby's Café is a contemporary coffee bar with 100% Arabica bean coffee. It also offers fresh new pastries including donuts, croissants and more.

To mark the grand opening of the newly redesigned Cumberland Farms c-store and station, the company has donated $500 to Palmer's Converse Middle School. The Converse Middle School has 524 students in [image-nocss] grades 5-7, with 48 professional staff and 28 support staff.

Cumberland Farms said that it selected Converse Middle School to receive the gift because the school's philosophy, "to make the most of the educational opportunity afforded the student by the community, the student will demonstrate the self-motivation and the self-discipline necessary for the pursuit of excellence," is closely matched with Cumberland Farm's Corporate Giving Program for Youth.

Through its Corporate Giving Program for Youth, the retailer is working to improve the prospects for young people, to encourage and support young people 's achievements in business and leadership and to provide educational opportunities for young people. The chain sponsors 4-H, the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and Making Strides for Breast Cancer and provides college scholarships. In addition to annual corporate contributions, Cumberland Farms is active at the local level, building awareness and supporting worthy organizations in the communities where its employees live and work.

Privately held Cumberland Farms is a privately held business based in Canton, Mass. Its network of 1,000 retail stores, gas stations and a support system including petroleum, dairy and grocery distribution operations spans 11 states across the Northeast and Florida, including Gulf-branded and Exxon-branded branded outlets.
