Krispy Krunchy Expanding

Adds Detroit-area outlet
DETROIT -- A new chicken franchise has come to the Detroit areaKrispy Krunchy Chicken. Located in the Marquis Foodservice Catering building in Westland in 2Chefs Carry Out Xpress, the franchise features Cajun-style chicken and catfish that is fried in zero trans fat oil, side dishes of Jambalaya, Boudin Bites and Honey butter biscuits and more, reported Hometownlife.com.

2Chefs Carry Out Xpress was founded by chefs Scott Winfrey and Steve Schifano and also features a variety of Grilled Panini Sandwiches such as Tuscan Chicken & Spinach, Portabella Mushroom & Roasted [image-nocss] Peppers or Turkey Pesto with Roasted Tomatoes. A large selection of Entre Salads are offered including classic Caesar, Greek and Spinach as well as Asian with Almonds and Cabbage, Michigan Cherry with Apples and the "Mother Grain" with Quinoa, Cous Cous and Chile Lime Vinaigrette. A variety of homemade soups will be available and the owners are striving to offer fresh made dressings, sauces and produce that is either organic or locally grown in order to provide the highest quality at the most reasonable prices.

If this goes well, 2Chefs may expand their offerings to include ice cream and other frozen treats, said the report.

Steve Winfrey, owner of Marquis Foodservice, has operated his full service catering business from this location since 2001 and wanted to expand the carry out services that he offered and sought the help of fellow chef Steve Schifano. Schifano, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and executive chef of Patient Food & Nutrition at University of Michigan Hospital, had been toying with the idea of something similar for years and did not hesitate when the opportunity arose, the report added.

Jonesville, La.-based Krispy Krunchy Foods is designed to give convenience stores and grocery stores a professional branded image with the ability to deliver top-quality food to their customers at significantly lower prices than other brands. Although c-stores and grocery stores are the company's core business, it is also in freestanding restaurants, bars, mall food courts, water parks and bowling alleys.
