CHICAGO — The top quartile simply dominated in foodservice. In all subsets—commissary and packaged sandwiches, frozen dispensed beverages, cold dispensed beverages, hot dispensed beverages and prepared foods—these companies outpaced the overall averages for all c-stores in 2018.

Prepared foods saw the greatest disparities. In 2018, top-quartile companies recorded $58,003 in per store, per month sales, almost double that of the average c-store. Gross-profit dollars from prepared foods were also about double, with top-quartile companies at $32,733 per store per month, according to CSX.
