Gasoline Scam Resolved

Retailer pleads guilty, fined $4,000

OMAHA, Neb. -- A Nebraska gas-station owner pleaded guilty to five charges related to a scam to sell ethanol-blend gasoline at higher unleaded prices, according to Attorney General Jon Bruning, reported the Associated Press.

Tom Wiese owns Scribner Express and Decatur Express in Scribner and Decatur, Neb. He pleaded guilty to three counts of theft by deception, one count of criminal simulation, and one count of deceptive advertising.

Burt County Judge Matt Samuelson sentenced Wiese to pay fines of up to $4,000 plus court costs.

Meanwhile, Tim Kaup, general [image-nocss] manager of the Sapp Bros. distribution center in West Point, is charged with aiding and abetting Wiese on seven counts of theft by deception, one count of criminal simulation and one count of deceptive advertising. Kaup's case is still open.
