CITGO Celebrates MDA Participation

Presents checks for $8.8 million for telethon

HOUSTON -- The 2006 fundraising efforts of CITGO Petroleum Corp.'s employees, customers and business associates on behalf of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) celebrated more than 20 years of participation in the annual Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon by presenting checks totaling $8.8 million to the MDA over the weekend. The funds will be used in the continuing quest for a cure for neuromuscular diseases.

The efforts of the CITGO family on behalf of MDA are a continuing source of pride, said Bill Hatch, CITGO Petroleum vice president of supply [image-nocss] and marketing. Their efforts have raised more than $82 million for the fight against these diseases. The presentation of these checks was the culmination of this year's efforts and demonstrated, once again, that CITGO has the energy to care.

CITGO's employees, marketers and business associates conduct and participate in fundraising events throughout the year in an effort to contribute to the fight against neuromuscular disease. Recently, the paint scheme on the CITGO Pontiac Riley Daytona Prototype race car was changed to salute MDA and CITGO's fundraising efforts on behalf of the charity.

Hatch, along with CITGO CEO F alix Rodr a guez, other CITGO employees and business partner representatives, joined Jerry Lewis in Las Vegas this past weekend for the 21st annual MDA Labor Day Telethon.

CITGO, based in Houston, is a refiner, transporter and marketer of transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals, refined waxes, asphalt and other industrial products. The company is owned by PDV America Inc., an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Petr aleos de Venezuela SA, the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
