Kroger Installs Dresser Wayne Vista E85 Dispensers

18 grocery fuel stations in Texas to offer renewable fuel option

AUSTIN, Texas -- Eighteen Kroger fuel stations in Dallas and Houston will be able to offer Texans who drive flexible-fuel vehicles (FFVs) the benefits of ethanol fuel through the installation of Dresser Wayne's Vista 387 E85 fuel dispensers this summer.

Because ethanol is more corrosive than gasoline, certain components of an FFV's fuel delivery system are modified to make the engine ethanol-compatible; however, fuel dispensers that are not designed for the corrosive nature of ethanol can leech metal deposits into an FFV's fuel system that may then be [image-nocss] deposited in a vehicle's fuel system. The Dresser Wayne Vista 387 E85 dispenser contains components specifically designed to be tolerant to alcohol, making the dispenser more durable and resistant to corrosion.

With the Vista E85 dispenser, retailers finally have the ability to safely offer customers an alternative to gasoline, said Scott Negley, Dresser Wayne's director of product management.

To bring what it says is the first industry-approved E85 retail fuel dispenser to the market, Dresser Wayne is partnering with CleanFUEL USA, an alternative fuels company.

Drivers are interested in exploring fuel options, and Kroger believes that this trend will continue to grow as access to alternative fuel becomes more convenient, said Virg Musil, Kroger's director of construction for supermarket petroleum. The Dresser Wayne Vista 387 E85 dispenser is a vital part of this new program, making it possible to safely provide ethanol to our customers.

The National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition estimates that there are already some 6 million E85-compatible vehicles on American roads, said Dresser Wayne, and according to the Texas Railroad Commission, Texas is second only to California in the number of alternative fuel vehicles on the road.

Dallas-based Dresser Inc. designs, manufactures and markets equipment and services sold primarily to customers in the flow control, measurement systems and compression and power systems segments of the energy industry. Dresser Wayne, headquartered in Austin, Texas, one of the largest business units of Dresser, offers self-service consoles and fuel-blending dispensers ations, in-pump card readers and cash acceptors, in-pump radio-frequency identification (RFID) payments systems and dispenser-mounted touchscreen payment/communication systems. It also designs and markets software systems that enable its retail fueling customers to manage the convenience store aspects of their businesses more efficiently, including inventory control, price book management, labor management and site administration.
