Marathon Brands Get Lube Job

Marathon, SSA, Pilot forge Pinnacle Oil deal

INDIANAPOLIS -- Pinnacle Oil announced that it has signed an agreement to supply lubricants under the Marathon, Speedway, SuperAmerica and Pilot brands. Marathon Oil Corp., through affiliated companies, owns or participates in each of these brands.

We are pleased to be supplying Marathon and their affiliated companies with a quality product, said Charles Collins, Pinnacle's Vice President Sales. This expands our marketing base with one of the premier companies in the Midwest.

Pinnacle Oil is an Indianapolis-based supplier of lubricants [image-nocss] for contract customers. The company blends and packages automotive, industrial, aircraft, two-cycle and other specialty lubricants. Pinnacle recently opened Golden Triangle Lubricant Services in Nederland, Texas, to focus on Marine Lubricants and other products.

Houston-based Marathon is the fourth-largest U.S.-based fully integrated international energy company engaged in exploration and production; integrated gas; and refining, marketing and transportation operations. The company's retail marketing system comprises approximately 5,600 locations in 17 states; nearly three-quarters are Marathon brand locations. Marathon serves the Midwest and Southeast as a petroleum products marketer with 85 light product and asphalt terminals and access to approximately 7,700 miles of pipeline.

Owned and operated by Marathon, Speedway SuperAmerica LLC, Enon, Ohio, has more than 1,600 convenience stores located in nine states. Most of the stores are operated under the Speedway and SuperAmerica brand names.

Pilot Travel Centers LLC is a joint venture 50% owned by Knoxville, Tenn.-based Pilot Corp. and 50%t owned by Marathon Petroleum Co. LLC. Pilot Travel Centers LLC operates 267 locations in 40 states.
