Gulf Oil moves HQ

NEWTON, Mass. -- Gulf Oil LP said it has moved its corporate headquarters to Newton, Mass., from Chelsea, Mass., effective immediately.

It selected the Newton location, 11 miles from Gulf's former Chelsea headquarters, to minimize any disruption for its employees while allowing the company to develop both a high-tech, state-of-the-art office as well as additional space for Gulf's growing activities.

Chelsea will continue to be an important Massachusetts community within the Gulf organization, as one of Gulf's largest and most [image-nocss] important storage facilities resides in Chelsea, said Gulf CEO Joe Petrowski. The move to One Newton Place, at 275 Washington Street in Newton, keeps our offices in Massachusetts and places us in the middle of a vibrant community with excellent amenities that will allow Gulf to continue to attract and retain the very best professionals necessary to grow the company. The new offices allow us to both equip and design a work setting that maximizes our ability to react quickly to a customer's needs and market conditions both of which are key to our continued success. We are proud of our Northeast base, our Boston home, and believe this move serves our mission, our customers, and our employees best.

Gulf Oil is one of the Northeast's largest wholesalers of refined petroleum products. Gulf distributes motor fuels through a network of more than 2,400 Gulf-branded gas stations, 12 proprietary oil terminals and a network of more than 50 other supply terminals. Gulf Oil supplies heating oil, diesel fuel, jet fuel and kerosene to these branded retail outlets through both its Gulf brand and, in the seven states of New England and New York, the Exxon brand. Through its unbranded subsidiary, Great Island Energy, Gulf Oil also supplies petroleum products as well as risk management and financial services to industrial, commercial and independent retail firms. And through its ownership interest in World Energy, Gulf Oil is a major distributor of biodiesel.
