ampm Amps Up Atlanta, Charges Up Chicago

Retailer hosting Guitar Hero III tournaments

ATLANTA & CHICAGO -- This month, to spotlight the arrival of BP's ampm and its "too much good stuff" in Atlanta and Chicago, the retailer is sponsoring tournaments for the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock video game. ampm will host a month of playoff events, which will take place at 12 ampm locations in the Atlanta area and 12 in the Chicago area. The tournaments will culminate in championship playoffs and exclusive rock-concert events.

Throughout March, all would-be rock stars, young and old, will have the chance to unleash their inner guitar hero and battle it out at in-store competitions. The contestants with the highest score at each of the ampm event locations will compete in a live championship playoff—judged by the bands—that will take place live at the Tabernacle in Atlanta on April 3, and at the House of Blues in Chicago on April 14.

After crowning a "Guitar Hero III Champion" in each market, some fans and gamers will get to attend live performances by Alter Bridge and OK Go!. The champion in each market also will receive a new guitar signed by the band, an XBOX 360 unit, a new Guitar Hero III game and a basket of ampm Too Much Good Stuff valued at $300.

Participants will have the opportunity to play on a first-come, first-served basis and will play one of four pre-chosen songs for a chance to win four tickets to a private concert where they will compete against other local winners for the Atlanta or Chicago ampm Guitar Hero III Championship.

"ampm is "too much good stuff"; it's funky, irreverent, exciting. ampm makes the convenience store experience quick and fun and it offers great everyday values for busy people on the go," said Fiona MacLeod, president of BP U.S. Convenience Retail.

The first ampm Guitar Hero III Tournament events will commence on March 6 in Atlanta and March 8 in Chicago.

With more than 900 stores throughout five western states and new stores arriving east of the Rockies, ampm is like a "snack-food theme park" featuring nearly 2,200 different products, the company said.
