CSP Opens Nominations for 2020 Category Manager of the Year Awards

Will honor winners during Convenience Retailing University
Category Manager of the Year

CHICAGO —CSP is now accepting nominations for its fifth annual Category Manager of the Year awards.

Category managers are a driving force behind the ongoing growth of the convenience-store industry. Their relationships with vendors, knowledge of trends and overall category insights keep the industry relevant, competitive and breaking in-store sales records year after year.

The Category Manager of the Year awards are CSP’s way of identifying and celebrating the best category managers in the industry today. Through Dec. 13, CSP is asking its supplier and wholesale partners to submit their nominations for the c-store industry’s finest category managers at CMOY Nomination Form.

Nominees should:

  • Drive sales through both innovative thinking and a sharp focus on data.
  • Influence others within their company and the industry as a whole.
  • Have a deep understanding of their customers and market.
  • Foster meaningful relationships within the industry.

“The decisions that category managers make can make a category sink or swim, or even fly,” said CSP Content Director Steve Holtz. “The right products and the right merchandising can drive in-store sales to new heights. The right promotions can be the difference between a good month and a great month. We’re excited to honor the people who are making these things happen at the store level.”

Finalists are chosen by the CSP editorial staff based on the most nominations. Suppliers and distributors can then vote on the finalists to determine the winners, who will be announced during an awards dinner at the 2020 Convenience Retailing University, to be held Feb. 18-19 in New Orleans. They will also be featured in CSP’s Category Management Handbook, to be published in spring 2020.

The honor of Category Manager of the Year will be bestowed on one person from each of nine product categories:

  1. Foodservice
  2. Tobacco/OTP
  3. Tech/Operations
  4. Packaged Beverages
  5. Dispensed Beverages
  6. CBD
  7. Center Store
  8. Loyalty/Delivery
  9. Multiple Categories
