Kum & Go Contributes to Katrina Relief

$76,700 raised through wristband sales

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Kum & Go has presented a $76,700 check to Catholic Charities for Katrina Relief. The donation was raised through the sale of Hurricane Katrina relief wristbands.

Shortly after Hurricane Katrina devastated the states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, Kum & Go made the wristbands available for sale in all 430 of its locations.

We've all wanted to do whatever we could to help the people affected by Hurricane Katrina, said Kum & Go CEO Kyle Krause. Whether it's donating food, water, supplies [image-nocss] or money, we feel obligated to help Americans in need.

The blue bracelets sold for 99 cents each. Kum & Go picked up the cost to produce them and all the proceeds went toward benefiting the victims of Katrina. The words Katrina Relief were stamped on the rubber bracelets.

Also, in the days after the Hurricane Katrina, Kum & Go shipped two semi-truck loads of bottled water to the displaced and homeless Katrina victims.

Kum & Go has stores in 13 Midwestern and mountain states.
