Stewart's Working OverTime

Private-label energy shot available April 19

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Stewart Shops's OverTime 2-ounce energy shot will be in stores April 19, the dairy/convenience retailer announced on its website.

The retailer said that the product will be sold near the registers at the price of $1.69 each or two for $3.

The company recently rolled out and expanded its line of private-label candy bars and energy drinks.

Stewart's also said that 1% milk is now available in half gallons.

In other company news, Stewart's said that it recently mailed 1,455 checks, totaling $1.4 million in grants, to nonprofit organizations receiving Stewart's Holiday Match funds for 2011. The money, contributed by customers and the company, will assist local children's charities in the 30 counties where there are Stewart's Shops.

"That is a 3% increase in the number of Holiday Match grants, compared to last year," said Susan Dake, Stewart's Foundation president. "Thanks to the generosity of our customers, in this flat economy, we were able to respond to the additional requests and bring the total to over $16 million in contributions for the 25 year old program."

Since 1986, Stewart's has been collecting customer donations from Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Day. The donations are matched by Stewart's with 100% of the funds returning to the communities in which the shops are located.

Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-based Stewart's Shops is an employee- and family-owned convenience store chain. It is known for milk, ice cream, coffee, food to go, gasoline and more. There are 328 Stewart's Shops located in more than 30 counties across upstate New York and southern Vermont.
