TA Participating in Wreaths Across America Day

Delivery, dinner, ceremony honor fallen soldiers

WESTLAKE, Ohio --TravelCenters of America LLC, operator of the TA and Petro Stopping Centers travel center brands, will again participate in the Wreaths Across America (WAA) annual wreath-laying ceremony.

Wreaths Across America

Working through the Truckload Carriers Association’s (TCA) coordination of wreath deliveries, a driver and truck from Over The Road Distribution, TA’s in-house distribution group, will be among the many to participate in the pickup and delivery of wreaths from Harrington, Maine, to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 12.

“The trucking companies and drivers who dedicate their time to delivering the wreaths are the true heroes of Wreaths Across America and we are honored to have one of our trucks and drivers play such an important role in this event,” said Tom O'Brien, president and CEO of TravelCenters. “We honor our veterans throughout the year during many holidays, but the Christmas season is one of the most important times to remember and show respect to the men and women who served our country.”

Along the route to Arlington, trucks carrying wreaths, escort vehicles, and veterans invited by Wreaths Across America will stop at the Petro Stopping Centers location in Bordentown, N.J., on Dec. 9.

TravelCenters of America will serve the drivers and vets dinner at the Iron Skillet and spread the WAA message about the importance of remembering fallen heroes and honoring those who served.

It expects more than 25,000 volunteers to help place the projected 900,000 to one million veteran wreaths at Arlington once they are delivered. This is the most wreaths ever donated.

TCA has been coordinating the nationwide effort of organizing professional truck driver and motor carrier donations of trucks, time and fuel for the WAA annual event since 2012. The Wreaths Across American organization is a not-for-profit charity that delivers remembrance wreaths to military cemeteries all over the country. Volunteers who help raise funds to sponsor the wreaths and participate in the event make these activities possible.
