CEFCO Continues Growth Pattern

Acquires two retail sites in Mississippi on heels of Food Fast deal

TEMPLE, Texas -- Continuing its growth strategy, CEFCO Convenience Stores has announced that it has acquired the retail assets of two unnamed sites located in Collinsville and Marion, Miss. The deal closed on September 30, 2011. Additional terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

This acquisition represents the continuation of CEFCO's aggressive growth pattern, the company said, preceded by the August 2011 purchase of the 69-store Food Fast chain based in Tyler, Texas.

Upon the successful completion of this arrangement, CEFCO will operate 194 convenience stores within the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.

Also in August, CEFCO opened the chain's newest store, located in Harker Heights, Texas. It represents the company's prototype store design, incorporating a number of innovative operational enhancements made possible by an open, fresh design with modern treatments and upgraded finishes (see Related Content links below for previous CSP Daily Newscoverage).

In other company news, through its partnership with Children's Miracle Network (CMN), CEFCO got a sneak peek of the trauma room at Children's Hospital at Scott & White in Temple, Texas, that was named after CEFCO for its efforts in the community.

"The trauma room is where the sickest children admitted to the ER will be treated, and we couldn't be more honored to help make this level of care possible. Our annual Children's Miracle Network Hospitals campaigns benefit 10 hospitals since all of the funds raised stay local. We'd like to thank our dedicated staff, customers and vendors for their tireless efforts," the company said on Facebook.

Temple, Texas-based CEFCO Convenience Stores--a unit of Fikes Wholesale Inc.--operates 194 stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas and employs more than 1,800 team members chainwide. Fikes' other businesses include Group Petroleum Services, a common-carrier fuel transport fleet; Cord Financial Services, a nationwide ATM provider of more than 4,500 ATMs; Fleet Express, a single-card solution for fuel management needs; and JF Air, a charter air service.
