JM Oil Adds Two Sites

Converting both the SuperAmerica brand; Casey's, Sheetz continue to grow, too
ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- JM Oil Co. has added two more gas stations to its ownership roster, general manager Brian Laudenbach told The St. Could Times. It acquired two St. Cloud gas stations and is remodeling them to reopen this week and next. Terms of the deals were not disclosed. One station is going from the Marathon to SuperAmerica brand and will likely open Wednesday or Thursday, Laudenbach said. The second is transitioning from River Station to SuperAmerica. He said it is slated to open July 9 or 10.

Both stores were closed so they can be remodeled to fit SuperAmerica [image-nocss] store designs, said the report.

The local oil company is family-owned and has been operating for more than 30 years. It has 13 BP-branded stations and five operating with the SuperAmerica brand. It employs about 175 people companywide, said the report, with stores in St. Cloud, Big Lake, Foley, Pierz, Jenkins and Pequot Lakes.

Laudenbach said this is likely the company's last acquisition for a while. In November it acquired Petro Wash Co. in Waite Park.

Meanwhile, some larger chains have also opened new stores over the weekend and this week.

Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey's General Stores Inc. opened a store in Roachdale, Ind., over the weekend, according to a report by The Greencastle Banner. During the grand opening Saturday and Sunday, customers registered to win $500 of free gasoline. It also offered specials on its doughnuts, pizza, cookies and submarine sandwiches.

The retailer operates 1,474 corporate stores in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin. (Click here to read recent CSP Daily News coverage of Casey's store and foodservice expansion plans.)

Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz Inc. continues to grow south of Cleveland as it opened a new store in Strongsville, Ohio, yesterday

"It is always exciting for us to expand into a new area," said Stan Sheetz, president and CEO. "Strongsville is a great city and we are thrilled to begin serving this community."

Employees hosted a grand opening celebration with a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday. As part of celebration, the retailer made a donation to the Strongsville Council of PTA's Goals Project.

This new 5,000 square-foot facility offers fresh-food items such as the MTGo! and Shweetz Bakery lines of sandwiches, wraps, donuts and muffins, along with the signature Made-To-Order (MTO) line of Angus beef burgers, premium grilled chicken sandwiches, freshly made salads, French fries, onion rings and more. Sheetz Bros. Coffeez, a full-service espresso and smoothie bar staffed by a trained barista is also available. Customers can order handmade specialty coffee drinks including lattes, cappuccinos and mochas--hot, frozen or iced. Frozen fruit smoothies round out the specialty drink menu.
