Lend Lease Lands 7-Eleven

Named construction service provider for retailer's new-construction portfolio
DALLAS & NEW YORK -- 7-Eleven Inc. has named Lend Lease's Multi-Site Group as its construction service provider for its new construction portfolio across the United States and Canada.

As reported in a Morgan Keegan/CSP Daily News Flash earlier this week, 7-Eleven plans to add at least 500 stores in the United States and Canada this year through traditional growth (individual store leases-purchases), business conversions and acquisitions.

"We plan to open 500 stores this year in North America through traditional growth, business conversions and acquisitions," 7[image-nocss] -Eleven spokesperson Margaret Chabris told CSP Daily News yesterday. "We continue to concentrate growth in existing markets but are open to other areas if it makes business sense."

The Multi-Site Group's three-year agreement with 7-Eleven calls for the company to immediately assume responsibility for service delivery for 7-Eleven's new-store construction, which is spread across the United States and Canada.

"Being chosen by 7-Eleven to manage the delivery of its new construction is a testament to the quality of our construction service," said Robert A. McNamara, CEO of the Americas region of Lend Lease, in a press release. "It's an exciting opportunity for us to work for an industry-leading firm."

7-Eleven's outsourcing agreement with Lend Lease--formerly known as Bovis Lend Lease--provides several benefits, according to the company, including an increased pipeline to achieve annual store-development targets, end-to-end process improvements, streamlined methods and geographic flexibility.

"We are committed to our joint goal of accelerating growth while driving efficiency and innovation," McNamara said. "In addition, we expect to achieve financial savings for 7-Eleven through our best practices and scale."

Last month, after announcing the opening of its 40,000 store worldwide, company 7-Eleven officials said they would open between 2,000 and 2,500 stores worldwide this year, and at least 300 stores through new construction and at least 200 sites through acquisitions in the United States and Canada, according to a CNN report.

7-Eleven Inc. is the largest convenience retailer in the world with more than 40,000 locations. Based in Dallas, Texas, 7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses more than 8,000 7-Eleven stores in North America.

Lend Lease is an international property and infrastructure group. The company provides a full range of construction services, including construction management, general contracting, program management, project management, design/build and consulting services.
