Triantafellou Promoted at Handee Marts

Will succeed Turner as president, CEO

GIBSONIA, Pa. -- Mike Triantafellou has been promoted to the position of president and chief executive officer of Gibsonia, Pa.-based Handee Marts Inc., effective January 1, 2009. Walt Turner, the company's current chairman, president and chief executive officer, will remain chairman.

"[Triantafellou] came to Handee Marts in February of 2007 as a well-respected executive with outstanding credentials and a wealth of experience in the retail, foodservice and convenience store industry," said Turner. "Before joining us, some of the positions that [he] held were restaurant manager, [image-nocss] director of foodservice, general manager, director of marketing, director of truckstop and restaurant operations, director of acquisitions, vice president of retail operations, president and chief operating officer."

He added, "For almost two years, [Triantafellou] has served as our vice president and chief operating officer, and during that period has proven himself an outstanding leader. He is committed to developing our people, strengthening our relationships with our franchisee and vendor partners and fulfilling the Handee Marts' mission."

Handee Marts is a licensed operator of Dallas-based 7-Eleven Inc., It has the exclusive rights to operate 7-Eleven stores in 20 counties in western Pennsylvania, 14 counties in northeastern Ohio, one county in Maryland and two counties in West Virginia. It operates corporate 7-Eleven stores and also offers convenience stores to franchisees. Each store is between 2,400 and 3,100 square feet in size and carries as many as 2,600 different items, including dairy products, nonfood merchandise, specialty merchandise, incidental services and, at some locations, branded fast foods and gasoline. These extended-hour stores are located on main thoroughfares, in shopping centers or on other easily accessible sites conducive to quick in-and-out shopping. The majority of the stores operate 24 hours per day and are open 365 days a year.
