Hostess Debuts Bite-Size Bakery Treats

Bakery Petites arrive in three varieties and sport new packaging for the sweet-snack aisle

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Hostess Brands Inc. has introduced a new sweet-snack line called Bakery Petites, now available in retailers nationwide. These treats come in resealable, stand-up pouches; Hostess is the first brand to use this type of packaging in the baked-sweets category, according to the company.

The Bakery Petites, which are designed to appeal to millennials, according to Hostess, arrive in three varieties: Cake Delights, which feature double chocolate or white fudge vanilla creme-filled cake balls dipped in fudge; Brownie Delights, mini brownies in chocolate chunk or chocolate raspberry flavors; and Crispi Thins, crispy cookies in fudge blondie and chocolate brownie options. Bakery Petites are made with natural ingredients and are free of artificial flavors and coloring and high-fructose corn syrup.

“With the tremendous growth in bite-sized treats in the confectionery category, we saw a huge opportunity to innovate with a new premium line that strategically enhances our reach and incrementality,” said Andy Jacobs, executive vice president and COO of Hostess. “Premium-priced snacks are growing and Hostess Bakery Petites—with their cleaner ingredient profile and modern packaging—deliver on that indulgent and upscale snacking experience consumers are seeking.”

This launch continues a busy 2018 for Hostess. In February, the brand expanded its portfolio by acquiring assets from specialty-food company Aryzta LLC. Later that month, Hostess relaunched its longtime specialty cakes Suzy Q’s with a new recipe. And in April, the brand introduced Andrew Callahan as its new president and CEO.
