IRI/Circana

Chicago-based IRI’s OmniMarket Convenience Outlet sample represents more than 24,000 stores with scanning capability used to project coverage of the NACS-defined channel of more than 148,000 independent and chain stores. (As CSP's Category Management Handbook went to press, IRI changed its name to Circana.)

McLane Co.

Temple, Texas-based McLane Co. distributes to about 24,500 c-stores in the United States. Shipment data represents average shipments per store per week from McLane warehouses to its entire c-store clientele base.

Technomic

Chicago-based Technomic’s Ignite Menu database features menus from more than 30,000 operators in the United States including 40-plus c-store chains. (Technomic is a sister company of CSP.)

NielsenIQ (NIQ)

Chicago-based NielsenIQ’s Scantrack ConvenienceTrack data projects to the TDLinx-defi ned/NACS-endorsed channel of more than 150,000 c-stores. According to NielsenIQ, the data consists of thousands of chain, franchise and independent c-stores. (As CSP's Category Management Handbook went to press, Nielsen IQ changed its name to NIQ.)

Management Science Associates Inc. (MSA)

Based in Pittsburgh, Management Science Associates Inc. (MSA) derives its market data and insights by tracking industry shipments between manufacturers, distributors and retailers, as well as tracking retail scan data and consumer panel data.
