Gilbarco, PDI Develop Foodservice Backoffice Solution

Provides streamlined inventory, accounting management for retailers

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Gilbarco and Professional Datasolutions Inc. (PDI) have partnered to bring the benefits of full backoffice system support between Gilbarco's Express Ordering self-service kiosks and PDI/Enterprise and PDI/FocalPoint applications. The joint development will establish a direct link between Gilbarco's Express Ordering kiosks and the PDI solutions. Retailers will benefit from streamlined foodservice inventory and accounting management from the familiar PDI system operation, the companies said.

Express Ordering works in conjunction with the retailer's point-of-sale (POS) [image-nocss] system of choice.

"Many of our customers are already familiar with the PDI/Enterprise and PDI/FocalPoint applications and they will be impressed with this robust addition," said Richard Browne, Gilbarco's vice president of marketing for North America. "Teamed with our powerful Express Ordering kiosks, customers now have the tools to better manage their foodservice operations, controlling costs and driving results in the most profitable category in the convenience store business."

Greg Gilkerson, PDI's president, added, "C-store customers want convenience and ordering food is no exception. Gilbarco and PDI are responding to our customers' needs by building significant foodservice features into our flagship product, PDI/Enterprise. The support for Gilbarco's self-service kiosk allows our mutual customers to manage customer-friendly menu technology from a headquarters office. It's a powerful response to a real market need."
