Valero has selected Mako Networks, a network management solutions company, as an authorized managed network services provider (MNSP) for its branded gas stations and convenience stores.

Mako Networks provides solutions for secure internet connections across chain locations. Its services include security, manageability and connectivity to Valero-branded stations, providing operations across networks.

“We’re thrilled to be selected as an authorized MNSP for Valero branded stations,” said Simon Gamble, president and chief revenue officer of Mako Networks. “This demonstrates our commitment to delivering secure, scalable solutions that meet the evolving needs of the fuel and convenience store industry. We’re excited to help Valero distributors stay ahead of industry demands and enhance their customer experience.”

The Mako System is designed to grow and update with distributors’ network infrastructure, offering modular hardware and a flexible, cloud-based management platform that adapts to new technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) and other innovations.

Valero branded stations can be safeguarded by Mako’s comprehensive security suite, which includes the Mako 6600 firewall, managed switches and optional wireless access points, all managed remotely through Mako’s central management system to ensure payment card industry compliance.

Mako’s plug-and-play system allows devices to be preconfigured from the cloud, ensuring that store operators can set up quickly with minimal disruption. Mako’s solution ensures exceptional uptime through embedded cellular technology, providing redundant connectivity for real-time data access and secure business operations, according to the company. Same-day advance-replacement hardware warranties minimize equipment-related downtime for Valero-branded stations.

Mako’s central management system offers management tools for Valero distributors’ diverse network needs. Some users require full visibility across the estate, while others require read-only access to specific sites. Mako offers distributed control and access controls to ensure security, Payment card industry compliance and fidelity of individual customer data. Estate-wide speed testing and single sign-on capabilities further streamline operations by reducing the time spent on credential management and ensuring bandwidth meets requirements for new functionality, said the company.

San Antonio-based Valero is a refiner and marketer of transportation fuels and other petrochemical products. The company sells its products at the wholesale rack and in bulk markets, and about 7,400 retail outlets carry Valero’s brand names in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
