And the Winner is …

For best new MST product in NATO-CSP Tobacco Survey …

RICHMOND, Va. --  Last week’s Tobacco E-News reported that Philip Morris USA’s Marlboro Special Blend scored honors for top new cigarette of 2011, according to the second annual NATO-CSP Tobacco Survey of tobacco shop and convenience-store operators.

Asked for the most significant moist smokeless tobacco product introduced for the same period, nearly 35% of respondents said Skoal Xtra.

The decisive victory marks a second win for Altria, parent company of PM USA and U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co., manufacturer and marketer of Skoal and Copenhagen MST brands.

Of 72 respondents, 25 called Skoal Xtra the most significant product, easily outpacing the next three choices: Copenhagen Wintergreen, the segment of pouches and American Snuff Co.’s Grizzly.
